Lately, I've seen this photo popping up around the web:

and was happy to find an article on Shine from Yahoo! about these futuristic heels. Designed by Polly Verity, I hope this model didn't have to catwalk in them. I would also be concerned about my poor toes falling out the sides.

The article/slide show also showcases eco-friendly shoes from Stockholm designers Naim Josefi & Souzan Youssouf that are made from only one material. And the Mojito shoe is like Birkenstocks, except not:

Designed by British architect Julian Hakes, the shoe molds to your foot. I'm a big fan of Rainbow sandals which similarly conform to accommodate the unique arch in each wearer's foot. I'd definitely try these on, but maybe just wear them around the house. For now, I think we're all safe in our pumps, flats, and flip-flops. Have you seen other futuristic fashion taking over?

Vogue Heritage Must-Haves

Last week, Vogue issued a list of 'heritage brand must-haves,' and I have to say I'm a fan. Jenna Lyons (my idol), the new president of J. Crew, sorted through some classics that have been around for quite a while. She put together a few looks using the J. Crew couture line. So if nothing else, you get to peruse through some exclusive, expensive items. Take a peek here:

Hot Colors, Cool Nails

InStyle Magazine  posted up a gallery of the top 15 nail colors this summer. I took a browse through them, and while I'm always astonished that nail polish can get so expensive, I did find a couple new shades I'd love to try. Here are my top four. 7(For All Mankind) LA Official Warehouse Sale

Today, fellow Eloner Kat and I checked out the first official 7 For All Mankind Warehouse Sale, hosted by thewarehousesale.com. They had the west room in the LA Convention Center and used every bit of space.











I picked out a few things from the racks and tried my hand at a few summer trends. The first thing I picked up was an awesome pink silk tank with a great ruffle going up one shoulder. I paired it with a blue and white striped denim vest and Josephine skinny jeans.


Out of the twenty-five feet of shoes, I tried on this awesome canvas pair with salmon stripes. They were definitely a hit, since they weren't very comfortable, and matched my J. Crew shorts perfectly.



I also found a pair of white distressed Roxanne jeans which I loved, but it's no longer summer so I couldn't justify buying them. I paired them with this awesome flowing top, in a delicate black and white print with a bow tied at the natural waist and cross straps in the back that I absolutely loved.





Somehow, these jeans didn't make me to be quite as leggy as the other pairs of ultra-skinny 7's I tried on.

I also tried this cute and trendy skirt with a flouncy sapphire blouse, with a fun bow under all the ruffles on the collar.



This was definitely a learning experience. After hearing about my college roommates adventures through the Lilly Pulitzer annual sale in PA, I came prepared for the communal dressing room and tried to keep an open mind. I love the first two outfits I put together and the shoes I pulled. If I wasn't headed down under, I might have splurged on a few pieces. Maybe I can find them on eBay when I get back!

The Official Classy Packing List

Tomorrow, I'm heading to California. I've spent the last 2 days trimming down my iTunes collection so it'll fit on my iPhone and copying whatever files I want onto my flash drive. I'm doing one load of laundry tomorrow and buying a new Too Faced mascara from Sephora. So I finally figured out everything I'm going to pack.

I'm bringing 5 shirts: yellow blouse with bow, J. Crew white crew neck t-shirt, pink J. Crew v-neck tissue tee, white flowy J. Crew tank top, emerald tight tee



2 J. Crew polos and a going out top: white ruffle neck polo, black J. Crew v-neck tee, black polo with custom turtle



2 medium weight tops (3/4 sleeves) and 2 long sleeve tops: Lilly Pulitzer fish tunic, Polo Ralph Lauren white oxford, Elon University long-sleeve tee, J. Crew yellow rugby 3/4 sleeve shirt



3 J. Crew cardigans, 1 long sleeve, 2 3/4 sleeves: navy ruffle cardigan, teal stripe cardigan (3/4 sleeves), black chiffon trim cardigan (3/4 sleeves)



3 tee shirts (one from Adam, and two of my fav Alpha Chi shirts!):



an Under Armor shirt and 2 work-out shorts, pink and navy:



yoga/exercise pants, a second pair of J. Crew matchstick jeans, and full-length leggings:



3 pairs of shorts: J. Crew khaki shorts, J. Crew salmon shorts, Lilly Pulitzer patchwork shorts



dress pants and a J. Crew khaki skirt:



two J. Crew bathing suits: (sadly, the New Zealand Breast Cancer Society's Bikini Downhill Race is on the 26th, the day before I leave!)



two pairs of J. Crew boy's boxers (so comfy!):

and finally, two scarves and two big belts as accessories: snake skin waist belt, blue/yellow/purple neck scarf, yellow paisley long scarf, white/black/beige block waist belt



So, now that you have the list, here's a bigger picture:



I decided the best way to pack would be by rolling all my tops and carefully making sure none of them had any wrinkles. my bag is so huge, it was hard to not get things wrinkled while dragging it up and down the East Coast. All my tops are folded in 3's, like in a store display. The ones with collars are rolled starting with the bottom so the collar doesn't get crushed, while everything else is rolled from the shoulders so the fronts stay smooth. I'm also throwing in a dozen pair of socks and as many underthings as I own (you can always throw them out later). I just put it all in my pack and used my dad's new luggage scale - can you guess: [polldaddy poll=2036750]

There are a few other things that will be coming down under with me:



Brown leather gloves, a pink neck pillow, a first-aid kit, Kleenex, one of two NZ guide books, a teal Coach clutch, an Elon baseball cap, Elon rain jacket, a garment bag for dirty clothes,  electrical converter plugs, South Carolina playing cards, Ralph Lauren pillow case, and a gold Coach clutch. Someone has to have it all together or that 14 hour plane ride will be miserable. Let me know what you would or wouldn't take with you!

Trend to Try from A New Mode

A New Mode has recently tweeted about this new trend, what they're calling the Boho World Traveler.



I'm a big fan of these flowing frocks and the prints that can flatter any form. I've been a fan of the long dress all summer, but have yet to find one quite long enough for my 5'10" frame. The few favorites of mine on this list include the Whitley Kros Palace Tunic, partly because purple is one of my color obsessions of this fall, even though this is more towards the rose-colored side. I also love the bold print of the Antik Batik Fontana Mini Dress and am really wishing I had somewhere to wear a bomber jacket this winter, except I'm pretty sure it'll get hot in a leather jacket down under. This flowery dress would be perfect to pack, just hang it up in the shower and all the wrinkles should fall out. Definitely something to look for!
